Vermont Youth Development Committee (YDC)

Mission

 

Vermont’s Youth Development Committee is a group of youth leaders who have experienced DCF care working, in coordination with adult partners, to improve the child welfare system by offering input into policies and practices, providing meaningful leadership training and experiences for youth and supporting youth leaders who, in turn, can empower others.

Goals

  • Provide a forum for youth to have a voice and feel empowered to help make positive changes in the DCF system.
  • Work within the DCF system to implement policy and legislative changes that impact youth in care and former foster care youth.
  • Engage in leadership training and opportunities.
  • Portray a positive image of foster youth within our communities.
  • Help youth as they transition out of foster care.
